I came accross the term downshifting when looking for an alternative to the conventional 9 to 5. The whispering of recession had just began and it was clear that it was deffinately the pay now part of the 'buy now pay later' mantra of the 90's. However after the 'greed is good' 80's you would think society would have been educated and things may have changed. This was not the case and so I did abit of research in going back to basics, simplifying, questioning societies expectations and generally taking things down a gear. After discovering downshifting and what it was all about I knew it was for me, I through myself into it and haven't looked back since.
